Our Practice

Portway Dental Practice is a friendly, two-surgery dental practice based in Frome, Somerset. We offer a fully private dental service for adults and children. We are committed to providing the latest treatments and the highest standard of care for our patients.

Our relaxed and welcoming environment is designed to help every individual feel comfortable and at ease during their visit.

Most of our patients are members of one of our monthly dental care plans. Full details can be found on our FEE GUIDE page. With a range of options available, we offer a dental plan to suit a variety of needs and budgets.

Routine Examinations & Check-Ups

Attending regular dental check-ups (examinations) allows a dentist to see if you have any dental problems and will help you keep your mouth healthy. If you need any further treatment your dentist will advise you at this appointment.

At each dental check-up your dentist will check the following:

  • Examine your mouth, gums, and teeth.
  • Perform routine cancer screening.
  • Ask you about your general health and ask for an up to date Medical History, and whether you’ve had any problems with your mouth since your last visit.
  • Give you advice on your lifestyle (diet, smoking and alcohol) and ways to promote good oral hygiene.
  • Discuss with you an appropriate time for your next visit.

Following this examination your dentist will advise you an appropriate timescale for your next examination. This time will vary depending on the condition of your oral health, ranging from 3 months to about 2 years.

If you experience any problems in between your check-ups you should contact us to make an appointment as soon as you can.

In an emergency or outside of practice hours please dial 111.

Please be reminded, Portway Dental will be closed from Wednesday 24th December
and we will reopen on Monday 5th January

This Christmas, we are working with the 24/7 Dentist who will be seeing any registered patient that has a dental emergency on a private basis.

25th December: 09:00am – 4:00am

26th December: 09:00am – 4:00am

27th December: Midday – 4:00am

28th December: Midday – 4:00am

29th December: 1:00pm – 4:00am

30th December: 1:00pm – 4:00am

31st December: 1:00pm – 4:00am

1st January: 1:00pm – 4:00am

2nd January: 6:00pm – 4:00am

Alternatively if you wish to
see one of our Dentists, appointments will be available from Monday 5th
January.
